Not many people know this…but I tried this experiment lately. I decided instead of just throwing the towel in before I attempted to do something, I would actually put the effort in, and just go ahead and try it.

This experiment was called

Try gaining admission to an Ivy League School.

More specifically, Columbia University.

Now back in the day when I did try and gain admission to a good level school,  I got into Boston University, which at the time was kind of a big deal for someone like myself, whose effort was minimal at best. I definitely did not have bad grades or anything. I just wasn’t challenged, nor did I particularly care in high school. Yes I took the honors and AP level courses. But I still wasn’t at the top of my class or anything.

So I had my surgeries and went to Framingham State, because I could afford it. I burnt out after a year, and that was that.

I moved to NY shortly thereafter.

And then this past May I decided to try for the June 1st deadline. I sent it in on June 1st.

…and then I did the test. and I did well on the test, since the woman who interviewed me told me I did.

But since I am unaware of how I interview..I was not sure how I did on that. And she told me they interview candidates who are questionable, and admit 30-40% of the total.

So the interview was not a good thing I realized.

Until she called me yesterday and left a message saying she had good news. I tried to call her back. No answer.

But she got me this morning.

and I got in.!!!!!!!

“We would like to formally welcome you to the Fall 2007 session at Columbia University”.

Thanks, Francine!  I couldn’t have done it without you!!!!

Now I just have to figure out how to pay for $1,086 a credit. 🙁
